What the chamber is for

SwissCham was previously known as the Swiss Business Association (SBA) and was founded in 1988.

Networking is the core element of SwissCham Singapore, complemented with a wide range of attractive events, select lobbying activities and service offerings that promote Swiss values and healthy commercial Swiss-Singaporean relations.

SwissCham Singapore is one of the pillars of the Swiss community in Singapore and brings together the representatives of Swiss companies, encouraging networking and exchange of information and championing the establishment of Swiss values and quality through business.

SwissCham currently represents over 200 companies and more than 100 individual members ranging from startups to large multinationals.

A registered society, with its objects in public

Rule 4 of their own Rules, lettered as they letter it. This is the document the chamber is actually constituted by, and it is published in full on their site.

The society shall be known as the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Singapore, hereinafter referred to as SwissCham.

Status

A society registered with the Registrar of Societies appointed under Section 3 of the Societies Act (Cap. 311), governed by an elected Board under its own published Rules.

Object (a)

To provide a forum on an organized continuing basis for Swiss nationals working in Singapore and for representatives of Swiss businesses with an interest or presence in Singapore for the purposes of exchanging information and identifying and discussing common interests regarding trade, economic, industrial and commercial matters.

Object (b)

To assist Swiss businesses with an interest in Singapore to conduct, sponsor or promote any activity of benefit to Members.

Object (c)

To offer, provide and perform services and support relevant to or for the interest or benefit of the Members which are appropriate to a business group, such as seminars, discussion forums, workshops and vocational training opportunities, without involvement in politics.

Object (d)

To promote, foster, support and represent the business-related interests of the Members by all means and methods consistent with the laws and constitution of the Republic of Singapore.

Object (e)

To promote the growth of the Swiss trade and to assist in promoting trade, investment, finance, commerce and industry between Switzerland and Singapore.

Object (f)

To collect, obtain, publish and disseminate statistics and other information relating to the trade and to all matters connected therewith as may be of service or interest to the Members.

Object (g)

To participate or make representations to Singapore and Swiss authorities and other institutions or bodies on business or commercial issues relevant to the Members.

Object (h)

To facilitate by lawful means the exchange of views and information between and amongst Members, other Swiss nationals working in Singapore and representatives of Swiss businesses.

Object (i)

To do any or all other such things as are conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
